Lyceum Music Festival Youth

August 1-6, 2016

This summer give your young artist the full-symphonic experience. String players ages 7-16 will have the incredible opportunity to participate in a week-long camp of fun and music at unbelievable prices on the beautiful American Heritage campus in American Fork. Highlights include:

  • Lyceum-Jr-2143webPlaying in a FULL SYMPHONIC orchestra with professional woodwind, brass, and percussion.
  • POWERFUL music including: Rachmaninoff, Mozart, Handel, John Williams and more.
  • THREE LEVELS of orchestras including a new beginning orchestra.
  • Special GUEST artist, Ryan Murphy, Associate Music Director of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square
  • Week-long MENTORING by amazing professional musicians.
  • ENRICHMENT classes including Youth Chorus directed by Dr. Murphy, Cello Choir, Folk Music, Bass Workshop and more!
  •  No minimum age for those interested in Youth Chorus only.
  • Daily FUN including: Family pool party, guest entertainment, BBQ dinner, final concert & more.

We encourage you to register early. Enrollment is limited and is on a first–come, first–served basis.  Full-time participants must meet the performance standards described for your schedule.

 Lyceum Music Festival Youth participants are admitted by audition or invitation only. See Getting Started for all the details.

Lyceum-Jr-2121webApplication deadline for all participants is May 31. A late fee will be added to registrations received after May 31. Registration is on-going until filled. Select instruments may be filled prior to or after the registration deadline depending on instrument availability. Enroll soon to save your spot. Once your instrument section is full all other applicants will be turned away.  We are now accepting enrollment applications for all string instruments and ensembles:

A – Symphonic
B – Chamber
C- Beginning Orchestra
We are also accepting enrollment applications for Enrichment Classes only (Youth Chorus, Cello Choir, Fiddling or Bass Workshop.  
 

 

 

 

 

 

Scholarships

In addition to affordable tuition rates, select applicants may qualify to receive a scholarship award. In order to place you in an orchestra and offer you a scholarship to our camp you must submit your digitally recorded audition; see audition requirements. To be eligible, students must submit the scholarship application by the date in their personal invitation letter or by May 31st. Scholarship applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis so it is in the best interest of the applicant to apply as soon as possible. Scholarship awards will not exceed the amount of tuition and only one scholarship may be redeemed. Scholarships cannot be used on enrichment class only. Lyceum-Jr-2114webReceiving a scholarship does not guarantee a chair in the Festival. Scholarship recipients are under the same instrumentation restrictions as other applicants as all seats are filled on a first-come first-serve basis. Scholarship applicants may register paying only the $100 deposit and wait to pay the remainder of the balance until they are notified regarding the status of their scholarship application. Scholarship applicants whose participation is contingent upon receiving a scholarship should apply early and wait to register until they are notified regarding their scholarship application. The deposit collected at registration is non-refundable.

A limited number of talent ($100 for schedule A & B, $50 for schedule C) are available. To be eligible, students must submit the Scholarship Application by May 31. We also have some scholarships for students of parents who are willing to help with the festival:

  • Librarian – position filled
  • Daily Games/Activities – positions filled
  • Friday Night Dinner Chairman – position filled
  • Daily lunches for faculty – positions filled

We can offer a scholarship in your name if you make a donation to the LMFY scholarship fund!  You can donate online.  The donation needs to be noted as a scholarship.  Scholarship applications can be emailed to LyceumMusicFestivalYouth@gmail.com

Enrichment Schedule only (Youth Chorus, Cello Choir, Fiddling and Bass Workshop): Monday-Friday 12:30-1:30 pm.
Friday:  Faculty Recital on Friday from 1:30-2:30 pm; Dinner and Tech Rehearsal from 4:30-7:30 pm
Saturday:  Concert at 5:00 pm (Call time to be announced)
